Ongoing projects (Internal/External):
Nutrient profiling and evaluation of fish as a dietary component.
Habitat assessment and eco-biological study of selected mountain lakes of Central and North Eastern Himalayan region.
Captive rearing, breeding biology and seed production performance of Bangana devdevi, Labeo pangusia and Osteobrama belangeri, three endemic fishes of North Eastern Himalaya.
Breeding and seed production of Golden and Chocolate Mahseer (Institute programme).
Establishment of chocolate mahseer hatchery in Tura, Meghalaya.
Establishment of chocolate mahseer hatchery in Mokokcheng, Nagaland.
Exploration and ichthyofaunal diversity in Kaladan drainage of Mizoram with special reference to Semiplotus modestus.
Assessment of population status, species diversity and habitat ecology of snow trout Schizothorax species in selected streams of Indian Himalayan Region.
Devising a feeding regimen based on return of appetite in golden mahseer (Tor putitora) larvae/juveniles.
 
Salient Achievements
Analyzed nutrient profiling of 32 important coldwater species.
Breeding, rehabilitation and conservation of golden and chocolate mahseer and provided technical support to various state fisheries department, NGOs and farmers.
Explored the high altitunal lakes of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Uttarakhand and established fishery in some of the important high altitudinal lakes for the first time.
Studied the biology, culture potential and breeding behavior of 3 important endemic fish species of NER viz., Osteobrama belangeri, Bangana devdevi, and Labeo pangusia.
Established chocolate mahseer hatchery in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with respective state fisheries department.
Conducted more than 20 HRD programmes for the state fishery officers of IHR and trained 200 fishery officers on the subject.
Study on histomorphological changes in digestive tract at different developmental stages, is accomplished as a part of preliminary study.
Study on postprandial dynamicity of digestive system of golden mahseer until 24 hours is under progress.
Study on return of appetite in golden mahseer larvae/juveniles based on identified histological and enzymological marker, is in progress.
Study on ontogeny of sensory organs of golden mahseer is in progress
